Some fans on the CBS board have started an initiative to collect donations to buy peanut butter and send it to the Kansas Food Bank.  Here is a link to the thread on the CBS boards:

http://jerichoboard.cbs.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?tsn=141&nav=messages&webtag=cbsmbjericho&tid=26788

All the details haven't been worked out yet, but I think this is an effort worth contributing to.

Here is some updated information on the peanut butter campaign:

From jeanine123 on the CBS boards:

We need to try and get a ballpark idea of how much peanut butter we're looking at ordering and donating to The Kansas Food Bank in order to try and figure out shipping.  Right now we're hoping to work with the website Hampton Farms but we still don't know how much shipping costs are going to be.  If we were to go ahead with this (which I'm pretty positive we are, it's just a question of who we're going to be pooling our orders with) how much do you think you'll be in for?

ONE 18 oz jar of creamy peanut butter at Hampton Farms is $2.75
ONE case of 12 (TWELVE) 18 oz jars is $25.75

We're hoping to get a pallet's worth of peanut butter ordered.  In order to do this we need 120 cases of peanut butter, or 1,440 jars of peanut butter.  This way we'll be able to have them ship it out on it's own truck, which should be cheaper than UPS or whoever they usually ship with.

Please post to this thread if you want to let the organizers know how much peanut butter you can donate:

A lot of the information about the peanut butter drive was deleted from the threads on the CBS board, but I have emailed Chigal to get the new location of the information and where people can pledge the amount of peanut butter they want to donate.  As soon as I get that location, I will post it here.

The new peanut butter donation thread is on the Radio Free Jericho website, at this link:

http://www.radiofreejericho.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=3903

It looks like the organizers will be working with Smuckers and the cost of a case is approximately $38 for twelve 18-oz. jars.  It also sounds like Smuckers will provide a discount on the price once they know how many cases will be purchased, so the actual cost per case may be lower.

If you want to make a pledge, please do so on the RFJ thread.  I believe you will have to register if you are not already a member there.

Sorry, but this approach isn't going to work.

You can't ask people to pledge in multiple locations and then expect them to go to you to consolidate the information.

People have pledged and are waiting for the information on how to make good on that pledge. There is still an active thread on Sci Fi with people waiting for information.

I took a peek at on Amazon and as of 6/21, it looks like 40 cases of peanut butter (240 jars) have been ordered.

Also posted by dawn_usa on the CBS boards on 6/19:

UPDATE: From Chigal,

She got a quick email yesterday that the first of the jars arrived yesterday, sorry no other information other than that right now. They are swamped over there so its nice to know he took the time to email her, he did say he would follow up later.

Thought you all would want to know.

I know my jars have arrived. Amazon notified me that they had shipped and when I checked the link they had been delivered.

I ordered a couple cases to be sent to the Kansas Food Bank.  The notice I got from Amazon said they should be delivered on June 18th, but there was no tracking number given, even though they were shipping via UPS.  I don't know if that was because they were considered to be gift items.

I just looked again and it was an expected delivery date of June 19 so I didn't get the confirmation that I thought I had.

From Dawn_USA on the CBS Jericho Forum:

We are now up to 324 jars of Peanut Butter either at the Kansas Food Bank or on their way to it. There are only 6 more days left on the Skippy PB special so please if you are going to order do so now. We will be continuing this after June 30th but the best deal all around ends on June 30th. 25% off the 6 pack of Skippy and if your order is over $25 its free shipping, so all of your money go to the PB purchase and not shipping.

Besides the 324 jars of PB there have been many other items added onto the orders including cereals, crackers, soups and quite a few more.

This is a great way to help our neighbors in Kansas without having to worry about where its going and how its going to be distributed. The Kansas Food Bank is hard at work getting items to those in need with all of the storms.

This has been a great start but I KNOW we can do better! We rangers have done so much already but I know we can dig a little deeper when we know its going to a vital cause.

Please help if you can.......
