Matt Smith chosen as new Doctor Who The BBC has picked virtual unknown Matt Smith to be the new latest  incarnation of intergalactic time traveler Doctor Who, it was announced  on a one-off broadcast Saturday night.

I kept hoping it would be Lennie James who has said he would love to play the Doctor. Can't tell from the e-mails I've gotten from friends and acquaintances about this what they think if this selection yet, but I know several were not enamored of David Tennant when he first started. Only time will tell.

Seems a bit young. It would be interesting if they’d have a companion who wasn’t from the current times. Someone that would actually give the writers a way to show the series though new eyes.
