Sorry to hijack the thread, but I am having problems posting. I am able to post under quick reply, but not add reply. Even with the quick reply it is showing message done, but with errors on page. I'm also unable to start a new topic thread......Please help.

I've moved this into its own thread. I'll look into this and review your settings and see if I can determine what the issue was.

I’ve checked and do not see anything unusual. Can you check different sections and see if the problem persists?

Errors on the page should not have any effect on posting. Generally, errors on page, simply means that the browser has some issue with the formatting of the page.

I tried in several different sections, same result. I would think that if I cant post in add reply or start a new topic that I wouldn't be able to post at all. Very odd.

Very odd. I have re-checked the forum settings and your account settings and see nothing amis.

I haven’t heard of anyone else having this issue, but few people are starting threads as of yet.

So let’s start with some basics. When you load this page do you see the button “Add Reply” at the top of the messages or at the bottom of the messages (above the Quick Reply button).

If you can see the “Add Reply” button can you click on it? If you can click on it what happens if you wait?

I am not really sure what exact problem you’re having.

As to starting a new thread, do you see the button? They button will only appear if you’re in a section outside of a thread if that helps.

I am able to see and click on add reply, type in the reply, bt when I hit the submit nothing happens. Same thing with starting a new thread, the problem doesn't come into play until I hit the submit button.

And here is another new one. I tried to edit in order to correct the spelling in the previous post and it will allow me to go into the message, type the correction, but again when I hit submit nothing happens. I have tried single clicking as well as double.

I'll speak to the software maker and see what they say.

Thanks

I tried to edit an earlier message and it never reposted for me either. It takes a while for my posts to submit too, a lot longer than on any other message board I belong to.

I’m still looking into this. We’ll be trying a new patch (current version is 3.7, as seen right above the Latest Posts at the bottom of the page) to version 3.7.4 in the next couple of days. I need to make sure that the site is fully backed up before we try something potentially risky like new software. I need to wait until I have a few hours at a time when most of you all should be sleeping.

I apologize for any frustration this has caused. I can only say that I truly share this frustration and it is in the top three of my list of many things to do that often keeps me up late.

I really want to thank all of you for taking the time to provide the feedback we need to make this a better experience for all.

I will post when the new software patch is applied and if you have time, please retest.

We’ve updated the forum software with a patch. Those of you give it a shot and see if the result is different? If not, post or send me browser type, version, and operating system (use contact website under the JKI menu).

Thanks for all the help in tracking down this problem.

Ok, I downloaded IE 7 and looks like my posting problems are behind me. You all are incredibly quick on your response time, thank you so much for helping solve the problem.

No, please, thank you. Without input we can’t even try to fix anything.

That said, having to upgrade from IE 6 to 7 isn’t a really us (site staff or forum software maker) fixing anything.

For others considering upgrading. IE 7 requires XP Service Pack 2, Windows Server 2003 SP1 or higher.

Docs say that if you have the minimum suggested memory to run the OS you have enough for IE 7.

If the other people having issues want to send me their info I’ll need:

Browser used and Browser Version (Help>About Internet Explorer for IE).

OS (XP, WIN98, Tiger, BSD are OSes).

What specific issues you’re having. Don’t see a new thread button, etc.

What forum you’re having the problem.  Check a couple of places as a very few forums have limitations.

For those considering upgrading to IE 7 you can find more details and download AT THIS LINK.

I also cannot start a new topic.......not even sure I can reply to a topic. I haven't been able to really do anything at all except read. I just loaded IE7 this AM and was hoping it would take care of any issues I had but it has not. Everything takes so long to load that my server times out as well. I am rather frustrated over the whole experience. I know that you are working hard to resolve these issues but I am ready to give up. I just don't have time to wait 2 minutes for something to load only to have the server time out and I can't even post! Hoping this one will go thru cause reading the other posts, people can do the quick reply but nothing else. Soooo, here's hoping!

I've made another set of changes (notated in the site announcement folder). Let me know if this seems to change things for you.
