Okay I'll play! I'll post my response here and at JerichoNet. Thanks MikesMom for tagging me! 8 random things about me: 1. I love animals (that is kind of obvious). I currently have two rats and one dog (who is sometimes referred to as my BIG rat). 2. I go above and beyond to take care of my animals (see below to explain why dealing with medical problems is so important to me). My dog sees a chiropractor every month to help reduce her arthritic pain, and she may start steroid shots next week. I just can't stand to see an animal in pain. 3. 90% of who I am today is based on the medical problems I have and how I cope with them. (They range from what I can put in my mouth to what I need to do every day to be able to walk pain free.) They really define who I am. 4. The first 20 years of my life were relatively normal. All of my medical problems hit around age 30 and then my entire life changed. 5. The greatest piece of wisdom I ever heard: "It's not what adversities you face; it's how you deal with them that matters." A dear friend told that to me and it helped turn my life around. 6. I have lived in a house that Charles Manson once visited. It was the house of the family who traded their white van for his grand piano. My parents did not know this until AFTER they bought the house. 7. I've been involved with fandoms for over 30 years. (I helped run a Dr. Who/Star Trek convention that my brother-in-law owned and I've been in a historical re-creation fandom for 30 years this last June.) 8. I love science fiction and fantasy. I'll tag Selini44, AlasJericho, JerichoJohn, and Gkkatz (I'll e-mail them and tell them they've been tagged).

Wow, great, I love these things..... Hmmm 8, eh? 1. My favorite movie is It's A Wonderful Life, even though my favorite genre is SciFi. In the SF realm, Contact and CE3K are two of my favorites. Favorite all time tv show tied - Jericho (theres a surprise) and West Wing. Honourable mentions - WKRP and The 4400. 2. I am a cat person. I love all animals, but cats are my favorite. 3. I have worked in the movie theatre business in some capacity since I was 13 (now 43). Went to school for Communications Studies (film & television production) but never pursued that end of the business (might someday). 4. I play the drums and am trying to learn to play guitar. I used to play drums int eh worship team at my old Church. 5. I am currently an elected municipal politician and am in my third term (just over seven years now). I ran five times previously before I won the first time! Previously, I had served in many political positions from low level volunteer jobs when I was a kid to serving as an Executive Assistant to senior elected officials. After becoming disenchanted with partisan politics, I decided to focus on municipal politics where, in Canada, there are no party affiliations. 6. I used to be a private pilot (when I was very young) but had to give it up because I could not afford it. Never got back into it again. 7. I am proud to have been adopted as a child. 8. I am a technology geek. I was an AV nerd when I was in school, but I have graduated to being a gadget maniac. I have owned a computer since 1979 when I scrounged the money to buy a very primitive Radio Shack TRS-80 computer. Apparently I have passed this down to my kids!

Hmmm...eight random things about myself...let's see what I can come up with: 1. I am an animal lover, but cats are my favorites. I have three, all adopted from either the humane society or other animal rescue organizations. 2. My favorite movie was the original "Star Wars" (1977) - until the Lord of the Rings trilogy came out. All three are now collectively my favorite movie(s). 3. I recently started making jewelry, and have become bead-crazy. I spend more money on beads than I probably should, considering I currently just create pieces for myself or friends and family. 4. I started out college with the intentions of becoming a veterinarian, then switched to a film/video major when it became clear I wasn't going to make the grades needed to get into vet school. The film/video route didn't pan out either and I ended up graduating with a degree in Organizational Leadership. 5. I volunteered at the USO for almost two years when I was still living in San Diego. 6. I am interested in ancient cultures and mythology, particularly Roman and Greek. 7. Although I work with computers and technology for my day job, I really am quite a technophobe. I don't own a digital camera, iPod or any kind of video game system, and rarely use my cell phone. I finally upgraded my dinosaur of a computer to a newer model last year last year because of the Jericho campaign. 8. I love to travel, but don't get to do so anywhere near as much as I would like to. Outside the U.S., I've been to Italy, Greece, England, Scotland and Scandinavia. My favorite place here in the states is San Francisco.

I forgot to put down that you are supposed to tag up to eight people. Jeff, I love "It's a Wonderful Life" too. However, in my house I only get to watch Christmas movies between Thanksgiving and when I take the tree down. I collect Christmas movies and have over 200. Selini, next time you want to visit San Francisco let me know! I'm just a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) trip away. Gwen
