Oh Gwen, I am so very sad to hear this. I know we were all hoping for a positive outcome. Prayers to her family and friends.

Correction: Per the CDC, you only have to wait 2-3 weeks between the regular flu shot and the H1N1 shot.

Well, since I know the flu shot does not cover all flu varieties, I should not be surprised that hubby had the flu last Thursday and is still run down, and today my 21 yr old came down with it. It is throwing up, fever for 24 hours then body aches for several days. I have not had it "yet" and I keep going around the house with old faithful (Lysol spray) spraying everything they touch LOL Wish me luck :)

Good luck Cat! Hope that flu bug doesn't find you in all the Lysol mist! :)

My father in law got the flu and is now pneumonia. All the meds they are giving him in the hospital has set off his blood sugar. He took oral meds for diabetes for 20 years and got his first ever dose of insulin yesterday.  His blood sugar is over 300 and he is hallucinating on top of alzheimers.  They are running out of good veins for the IV of meds so now they are going install a port into his heart.  It's getting scary now.  :(

Cat, I'm sorry to hear about your father-in-law.  I hope the doctors are able to help him recover.

It isn't unusual for the flu to throw all other conditions into a diffferent state, but sometimes they go back to normal after the flu passes.

Your father-in-law is in my prayers.

Gwen

Cat told us in this week's chat that her father-in-law was now in physical therapy - a part of his recovery.

I'm so glad he is doing better.

Gwen

Thanks for all of you good thoughts. Pops is walking a bit and off the IV antibiotics, on to oral. Hoping for 2 weeks at this new place and then he can get back to his familiar surroundings, although with alzhiemers that can be tricky. Thanks again all. Much appreciated :)

Glad he's out of the woods Cat, hope the rehab works well for him. I would guess the familiar surroundings are the best medicine.
