Thanks for the Live SD info.  Wonder if CBS will consider that good?  Any thoughts?

I hope CBS does consider the numbers good, although I hope they will also take into consideration the online numbers, TiVo and download numbers as well.  Over on the CBS board, there was a link to an article where Quincy Smith (executive of CBS's new media division) said that Jericho has more online viewers than it does traditional ones.  If that's true, hopefully CBS will at least listen to one of their own.

Quincy Smith, who runs CBS' new media division, says the size of the audiences on Veoh are getting close to what some shows are receiving on broadcast television. While he declined to cite specifics, he said the post-apocalyptic drama Jericho has a bigger online audience than it does on traditional TV.

Unfortunately, on the Nielsen's Jericho is at the bottom of CBS' shows. The only thing lower is Big Brother. All other media lists (TiVo, 0nline, iTunes and Amazon downloads) show really high numbers for Jericho.

We are still waiting for the Nielsen commericial minutes and the detailed TiVo data, so that data (due next week) is still unknown.

My personal opinion is that Jericho, like Star Trek, may be ahead of it's time. Star Trek was canceled right before the demographic information was put into the ratings. The story goes that NBC was told they had the perfect show for the new demographics, but they had just canceled it last year.

Jericho is wonderful for the new media advertisers, but the standard for new media is not in place yet.

Perhaps someone at Paramount remembers all this and will clue Moonves in.

Jericho #15 on CBS list of 20 shows

Viewers live plus same day DVR: 6.90 million viewers; household rating of 4.2

Time Shifted Data from premier week (2/12) is in:

Jericho gained a 22.6% increase in viewership form the DVR playbacks for a week after broadcast.

Total viewership 8.14 million viewers for premier episode.

Jericho #7 on the top timeshifted shows for that week!

Let's just hope CBS will take the Tivo, iTunes, Amazon downloads and online numbers into account when they are making their decision about a third season.  It would be like a slap in the face to not renew the show just because half the people who watch it do so by an alternative method that they have made available and encouraged people to use.

They’d also have to take into account the writer’s strike and the overall drop in viewership. If we add in a 20% bump to the TV ratings due to a 20% drop this year that would add about 1.2 million viewers.
