I've put the Jennings and Rall Corporate Maps back on-line here:

Link to Jericho Corporate Maps.

The map artwork is from Gwen. Thank you Gwen. I did redraw the Shanghai, China one to test some features I hope to use down the road. Any errors in the Shanghai map are then of course my own.

I wasn't able to to get the maps to work exactly as I wanted. I am not sure where the bug is effecting the maps. So instead of the maps being able to auto-resize (which was what I was shooting for) you'll have to click on buttons (shrink, normal, enlarge) to get the maps to resize. This is winds up being closer to how most websites set things up and how people expect maps to work anyways.

Instead of spending more time on this project I'm going to move onto the chatroom next. I thought about it and since the maps may very well get redone anyways in a few months seems silly to spend a lot more time on the maps when they actually work and when there are more important site issues to get too.

As always, if anything on the link seems off, please post in the forums to let us know!

I think the map looks great!

Are we also going to put that one on the Jennings and Rall website?

Okay I changed my mind and went back and worked out the fullscreen issue with the maps. If you get any errors please let us know.

If you go back to the link (first message in this thread) and click on the fullscreen button the map will 'pop' out of the page and fill the screen (clicking on the same button will 'pop' it back into the page). This is much like how some video players work. This should make it easier on people with small screens to see the maps. It will also make it easier see details on the map since you won't have the rest of the page crowding it.

This is a bit of a preview of what we'd like to do with the chatroom, some games and even some other parts of the site.

As to the JnR site, maybe we want to just turn it into a sort of Reality game site? The maps will probably get used there, but I'm thinking we have so little information on JnR that maybe we just want to create our own version of JnR and run with it. For now it wouldn't hurt to put the map there since there isn't much else there now.

It makes one wonder why they picked certain places. Did someone on staff have an attachment to a location, did they pick at random? I bet it was a bit of both. Sometimes they picked a place they liked, while other times it was more of a "should have something in China...where are the shipyards in China?" and off to Google.

The painful part is I can bet money that they have notes about all sorts of places we never heard about that we could incorporate into information for the fans.

It was always the intent to have more interactive content on the site. I often was just bogged down with other projects and there's always the problem with software always changing so do you keep waiting for the next cool thing or jump in now. Much of the software I planned to use on the site just simply wasn't ready in the past. With the updates this year and this summer it actually seems like it finally is up to snuff. Unfortunately the website software itself is a couple of years out of date now. So we'll need to get the website software up to date and then we can add in some more bells and whistles.
