Science fiction fans are known the world over for their incredible (and some might say disturbing) passion and loyalty for their genre of choice. However, all their enthusiasm is usually not enough to sway the hearts of the corporate executives responsible for producing the shows they love so much. As a result, sci-fi television has a history littered with the bodies of failed and cancelled series. A show’s short life span is no barrier to the average sci-fi fan, though, and many continue to enjoy fierce devotion despite lasting no more than a season or two…

Veteran TV cinematographer Denny Hall died Thursday morning after suffering a heart attack while working on location for Common Law, a series in development for the USA Network.

"The Jericho fans wish to express our deepest sympathies about the untimely loss of Dennis Hall. We are grieving with you and Mr. Hall's family. The fans would like to know if a donation fund has been set up in Dennis' name."
I thought the Jericho fans would want to know about this right away.

With a vested interest in set-top-box data becoming widely used, TiVo CEO Tom Rogers suggested Thursday that the TV business will suffer if Nielsen's panel-based method continues to yield the dominant currency. The Nielsen sample draws from too few homes and is less reliable than the return-path data culled from the boxes, he said at an Advertising Week event.
