Jericho Producer Says Give Peace a Chance

BuddyTV article.

It's easy to assume the producers of Jericho are just playing on our fears right? With everything the USA has been through, there is something morbidly fascinating about watching characters struggle through the worst-case-scenario. In a recent Reuters interview, Jericho creator Jon Turteltaub confessed, though, that there was a little more being the decision to move forward with the show.

"If people had no fear of nuclear bombs, then this show would kind of suck," he says. "But if America was in a panic over nuclear bombs, we probably couldn't make the show."

Will Jericho Survive?

Source: BuddyTV article.

In the beginning, Jericho was haunted by the insinuation that it was a LOST knock-off looking to take up a parasitic position on ABC's sci-fi/drama hybrid's opening time-slot. Therefore, it must suck, right? After a few weeks of well written, if not intriguing, episodes the show began to claim ground. It quickly received a full season order amid ratings that showed a strong "growing" phase. This could have been a bad thing meaning the show was booked on a projection and needed to fulfill that promise for any hope of a second season. Unfortunately, Jericho has not maintained that trend. The show has settled into a comfy number two spot for the Wednesday Night 8pm slot, but its failure to continue to grab new viewers is no doubt weighing heavily on CBS exec's minds.

Jericho - Proving that all is not "LOST"

BuddyTV article.

The parrallels betwen Jericho and Lost that foreshadowed the post-apocalyptic drama have all but vanished, which is good news for producers of the current Wednesday night mainstay. Jericho's unwarranted reputation as a Lost wannabe caused a bit of confusion and dissapointment in the beginning of the show's run; where's the weird?

Jericho: Federal Response

Posted by owner.

Source: Make Me Watch.

I have been watching Jericho even when not being forced to. Not because I like or can relate to the characters, but it is a creepy and interesting scenario. A small town trying pick up the pieces and figure out what has happened after a nuclear attack. Like every human being would react, the first thing that needs doing is power restoration to the town watering hole.

Jericho: Drama or Sci-Fi?

BuddyTv article by Oscar Dahl.

Last night's episode of Jericho, "Walls of Jericho", was as solid as the previous three. Jericho has proved to be one of the most successful new shows of the Fall, and has enjoyed some of the best ratings a new show has seen in a while. Not many would have predicted this before the season and, yes, even I was extremely skeptical about Jericho. Post-apocalyptic age, set in a small Kansas town, starring Skeet Ulrich? Yeah, like that's going to be good.

CBS GIVES "JERICHO" A FULL-SEASON ORDER

Posted by staff.

Source: CBS Press.

CBS has given JERICHO, its freshman hit drama about the aftermath of a nuclear explosion on a small, peaceful Kansas town, a full season order.

JERICHO, averaging 11.3 million viewers, 3.4/10 in adults 18-49 and 4.6/12 in adults 25-54, has boosted CBS's performance in the Wednesday, 8:00-9:00 PM time period by +48% in viewers, +36% in adults 18-49 and +48% in adults 25-54 compared to last year.

As part of a three-hour drama block that includes CRIMINAL MINDS and CSI: NY, CBS has seen its Wednesday ratings increase year-to-year by +34% in viewers, +22% in adults 18-49 and +30% in adults 25-54, the Network's biggest night of ratings growth. CBS is first on Wednesday in viewers and adults 25-54 and a close second in adults 18-49.

JERICHO stars Skeet Ulrich, Gerald McRaney, Ashley Scott, Pamela Reed, Kenneth Mitchell, Lennie James, Sprague Gradon, Michael Gaston, Erik Knudsen, Brad Beyer and Shoshannah Stern.

Jon Turteltaub, Stephen Chbosky and Carol Barbee are executive producers for CBS Paramount Network Television.

'Jericho' Is A Keeper for CBS!

Truth be told, Skeet Ulrich is more open than mystery man he plays on 'Jericho'

Interview by Bridget Bryne of Associated Press.

Source: Austin360.com

Skeet Ulrich of the new CBS series "Jericho" once thought it might be fun to be mysterious about the origins of his unusual nickname.

"Early on, when I first started making movies and doing interviews, I wanted to have a different story as to where that name came from for every interview, but there was just no way to keep it up," he grins.

So he's stuck with the truth - "the boring old story" that when he was a kid, a baseball coach tagged him with it because "I was small and fast, like a mosquito." Before long, it caught on with everyone and Ulrich wouldn't even respond to Bryan, his given name.

As for Ulrich, it's the name of his first stepfather, NASCAR driver D.K. Ulrich.

Truths about Jake Green, the character he plays on "Jericho," can't be revealed so simply.

Network TV Has Two Bonafide SF Hits

Article by Samual K sloan.

Source: Slice of SciFi.

The official new fall TV season began a little over four weeks ago and already the networks are talking of canning some of its new properties and relegating them to the shredder.

Yet, for the first time in a long time SF fans have something to cheer about. Network television can boast of two real bonadfide science fiction hit shows that are bringing in not only the highly valued 18-49 age crowd, but folks of all ages and likes across the spectrum.

NBC’s “Heroes” and CBS’s “Jericho” have struck a nerve with audiences. Both shows are SF, but offer up the right portions of suspense, drama, intrique, mystery and a touch of humor in all the correct measurements. There is a little something for everyone in these two stand-out programs, along with an ensemble casting most shows would kill for.

Jericho – If the Four Horsemen are here, let’s get this apocalypse started!

Posted by Robert.

Source: TV Babble.

Overall, Four Horsemen, the third installment of Jericho, was another fairly enjoyable episode. The intrigue is building as to who is behind the attack, and its interesting to know that others have survived. It also appears that America may have been the only country where explosions have happened, but it is a bit early to say just yet. I suppose that makes sense really – America is the West’s only real superpower, despite Doctor Who’s valiant efforts to convince us that Britain is the centre of the universe.

An Interview with Sprague Grayden (Heather, Jericho)

Interview by Rachael Thomas.

Source: About.com

She's been acting since the age of five, but Sprague Grayden has lived a full and eventful life. After graduating cum laude from Barnard College, Sprague appeared in several theater productions before breaking into the world of television. I found Sprague to be a bundle of fun, free-spirited energy. Having vastly different roles on several primetime series, I believe she has found the perfect role to match her sweet and up-beat personality.

Jericho: "Four Horsemen" Review

Review by Jason Van Horn.

Source: IGN.

A high level of quality can only be maintained for short bursts it seems for most television shows, and for Jericho the trend remains the same, although luckily it doesn't dip down too far.

Jericho (1.03) - "Four Horsemen"

Posted by Angela Wilson.

Source: Pop Syndicate.

Once again, this episode of the new CBS failed to swamp my senses with incredible action and a nail-biting plot. It just kind of walked casually into my living room, softly said, “Hello,” and strolled right on out the door promptly an hour later. In fact, I’m not certain if this episode actually was, or if it was just a figment of my (sometimes demented) imagination.

Jericho Star Teases Upcoming Bombshells!

Interview by Matt Webb Mitovich.

Source: TV Guide.com.

Thus far on CBS' Jericho (Wednesdays at 8 pm/ET), the titular Kansas town has been roped off from the rest of the United States by a series of nuclear attacks, and last week the residents braced for the arrival of acid rain. Meanwhile, a secretive good Samaritan named Lenny recently was on the receiving end of a Morse-coded message that he conspicuously shared with no one. Is all on this series not what it seems? TVGuide.com took that question and others to Sprague Grayden, who plays Skeet Ulrich's possible love interest, Heather.

Jericho Deconstructed

Article by Pete Smith.

Source: Environmental Debate.

The new drama series from CBS is now two episodes old. It's moderately exciting, nicely photographed, well acted (within the limitations of the script) and I'll keep watching. But this isn't a TV review column, I'm much more interested in what Jericho tells us about contemporary America. What zeitgeist is the show capturing?

Sprague Grayden, Jericho Interview

Interview by Daniel Robert Epstein.

Source: UnderGroundOnline.

Sprague Grayden has had many roles in acclaimed television shows such as Six Feet Under, Over There and Joan of Arcadia. But she has never had a role like she does in the CBS hit Jericho. Grayden plays Heather Lisinski, a meek science teacher who steps up to the plate after a nuclear bomb goes off in her home state of Kansas.
