See what all the fuss was about. Monday's marathon of the initial episodes of Jericho (Feb. 23, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Sci Fi) reminds us why so many viewers cared so much about a show that could have been great.

Welcome Home to Jericho! Amid nuclear bombs, heartache, and strife, Jericho was – and always will be – a lot like home to many of us. It’s a phenomenal show and a special place where we still hold dear precious things and embrace values like friendship, family, love, community, and teamwork when everything else in the world may be falling apart. For the fans and many people associated with the show, it’s probably a feeling that transcends the fictional TV “Jericho” and translates to what the show brought to us in real life.

Not unlike the new version of “Battlestar Galactica”, “Jericho” found its inspiration in the attacks of 9/11 and the ensuing War of Terror. Unlike it, “Jericho” struggled with its ratings and barely arrived to the second season. Even that was only made possible by the extensive on-line campaign started by the fans of the show. This didn’t ensure the success of the show, but it at least gave writers a chance to wrap up the story somewhat. This is all too bad, cause “Jericho” was a fascinating show to watch: a horror version of post-WTC USA with all of its conspiracy theories taken up to the umpteenth level.

This is what the Jericho Fans are getting together for, beyond the fun and the many many meetings that will be held will be the ever lasting thoughts of our troops. I have said this many times before, but will say it again; the sense of community we all had inside each of us was brought out by Jericho. It grew wings and made each of us much better as people. We came together to save a show and ended up saving our spirits.

From Redsox:
Hello Rangers,
Just a quick update. I know most people are tired, have real world issues going on, have seen some discouraging signs the past couple of weeks.
Remember they have changed time for Jericho this week and next and moved it to 6:30pm Est followed by James Bond movies. I think this is positive for several reasons. First they could have pulled Jericho or added another Drew Carey episode but they did not. Second the EPIX cable channel is supposed to be action adventure and James Bond films will undoubtedly be part of the mix. Running Jericho with them may be a way to test the waters and gage how Jericho will do with action adventure fans who will tune in for James Bond movies. [Gwen adds that the scheduling of Jericho followed by MGM movies was one of the signs pointing to epix. MGM is one of the epix partners.]
Also I want to remind everyone we have had some positive news the past 6 weeks. First on January 14th we had the Jon Turtletaub interview where he said Jericho movie is being worked on. This was first positive statement from anyone related to the show, producers, writers, actors since July 2008 that they were still actively looking at continuing Jericho in some form. Second Artz Lady received a response form someone at epix that they were exploring bringing Jericho to epix.
The Welcome Home to Jericho event in LA is scheduled for April 24-26. This event is going to raise money for families and children of deployed soldiers. We also may see some special guests at the event. The event will generate good publicity for the guests, Jericho Rangers 4 Our Troops and their mission but also help keep Jericho on the minds of the studio people, which is important to keep the movie in play.
Right now we are targeting CBS Paramount and epix with an email, post card and/or letter asking them to put Jericho on epix and then run it on The CW following the run on epix as NBC did when it partnered with Direct TV for Friday Night Lights. Other thing we need is all FaceBook and My Space people to reach out and get people on to epix & Jericho FaceBook pages.
Keep those letters and Feedback forms coming in. They are being counted. Sci Fi Rally Monday Night rallies at 9:00pm Est and Sci Fi Marathon 8 episodes each February 23rd and March 9th.

SciFi Ranger Rally
Attention Rangers and Citizens of Jericho through out the World!
The Scifi/Jericho Forum will have it's 3rd Consecutive Monday Jericho Rally on Feb. 16th. We Hope you will join us this week! Yes, the Scifi and NBC Tech Dept had a Server problem (no, it was not your computer) that cut into our time for the Rally and locked some members from logging on. It seems to be fixed and the posting speeds are back up as is the login time. DON'T YOU JUST HATE COMPUTERS SOMETIMES...HURRY UP AND WAIT!
So, since Monday is "Presidents Day" and many people will be off work or out of school, there is NO EXCUSE not to stop by for this UNITED RALLY DRIVE to support the twin Jericho Marathons coming up soon on the Scifi Channel. Monday Feb 23rd starting at 8am EST / 5am PST for 8 episodes starting with the Pilot and airing them in their original order. Set your DVR's, Tivo's, DVD recorder's, VHS recorder's or Just Get up early, Call in to Work and tell them "Take this Job and Shove it"! Jericho is ON!!
To Honor President's Day, I thought a great topic to discuss would be Season 2, Episode 2: Condor Original Air Date—19 February 2008. The self-appointed President from Wisconsin visits town. Actor George Newbern, who plays President Glen Tomarchio. What do you think of him? Interesting his last name matches the Town Jericho went to war with!
Also, there is the big push right now on the upcoming EPIX channel due to premier Fall 2009. Possible home for Jericho "The Series: Season 3".
Look for the "Rally Point Topic" on the Scifi/Jericho Forum. I will be setting it up late Sunday night. If you feel you can't make the Rally, Please stop by and you may post early! Got questions? Please post them and check back later for some answers.
See You Monday Night on the Scifi/Jericho Forum!

Not being typical television watchers (we gave up cable a tad over a year ago, and our viewing habits even before that were enough to make an advertiser despair), we missed the entire life of a very dark series called Jericho. CBS described it, briefly, as how a rural Kansas town deals with the aftermath of nuclear disaster. If that was all there was to it, I could easily have not bothered with the show . . .
There are log-in problems being reported with the Jericho Forums at UHD and Sci Fi. Since these are both owned by NBC Universal, I presume they are having a server issue.

From Redsox at UHD:
Hello Fellow Rangers,
I thought I would take this time to reflect on where we are and where we have been.
On November 19th (81 days ago) Jericho was dead in the water. There were episodes playing on UHD, but CBS had pulled the plug on the Community Board (our home for over 2 years) without warning, the UHD commercial issues continued and the tv ad was all but dead.
Then on November 20th, CBS made that great announcement that everyone was waiting for, Jericho would live again on the CW.

EPIX has become a target (of the Save Jericho efforts) due to it's close association with CBS Paramount . Currently, the Jericho fandom is the ONLY group writing them about their show. We believe that we can influence them to show Jericho , if we can keep those letters and e-mails going out.

I found the shows this week less entertaining than usual (although that could be because I wasn't able to actually watch most of them). Aside from the rather interesting vehicle involved in the weekly "NCIS" case, which I have began to fondly refer to as the Satan-mobile, my commentary was fairly uninteresting, and to a reader, probably unbearable. Therefore, I will concentrate on an injustice that makes me angry at CBS to this day; the cancellation of one of the channel's most unique, and one of my favorite, shows. That's right, I'm talking about "Jericho."

YouTube seems to be intent on becoming THE online video entertainment hub. And recent deals with U.S. television networks indicates a push towards showing more ‘professional’ video content.
But, in a shot across the bow, Hollywood’s Studio 3 Networks has announced a new service called epix that may one-up YouTube. Launching online in May, epix will offer more than 15,000 films and television shows across multiple platforms.
