Nielsen this week will begin measuring the Internet usage of some members of its national TV ratings sample, and if the controversial test goes well, plans to make a decision this fall to expand the integration of TV and Internet measurement beyond the limited test sample to "build a foundation for the inclusion of online viewing in our television currency."

An article on shows that may be canceled.
Editor: Will Harris compares Reaper to Jericho. His description of Jericho is "I'm reminded of “Jericho,” a show which started strong, got confused part of the way through its freshman season, but then finished stronger than it began and came back for Season 2 with a fucking vengeance."

TiVo is apparently moving farther into Nielsen territory. Specifically, it's launching local-market measurement this summer, which is itself uninteresting except to network affiliates, advertisers, and the hardest-core TV ratings geeks. When Jericho returned from the TV graveyard with seven fresh Season Two episodes, the series gave some semblance of closure to a few storylines. However, we never learned enough about the shadowy conspiracy behind the large-scale nuclear attack on major U.S. cities, Cheyenne’s rebel government takeover bid, or what ultimately happened to Jake, Robert and the residents of Jericho. Those stories will now be told in illustrated print, as Devil’s Due Publishing has partnered with the show’s original producers to distribute all-new Jericho comic books. “We’re so thrilled about the endless possibilities for the future,” co-exec producer Dan Shotz said. “We plan to give fans the story they’ve been craving. This is going to be epic stuff.” Earlier this year, plans were also announced for a big-screen feature film, so there’s still plenty of interest in the gripping post-Apocalyptic tale.
