When I first saw the ad for WonderCon, I thought it would be an opportunity to pass out some of the JKI year-at-a-glance calendars and get some borderline fans to the Jericho websites. I was pleasantly surprised to see the cast of Jericho was going to be there too. When JKI approached WonderCon, we found out that CBS also thought flyers were a good idea, and the CBS contact asked JKI to help pass out the CBS flyers.
Sean and I had decided to stay in the city and attend all three days of WonderCon. That would give us the opportunity to scout out the location for the Jericho panel and figure out how to distribute both flyers.
Saturday night we sat in the hotel room trying to think up questions for the cast, since we heard the audience at the Los Angeles convention had been shy about the Q & A session. While doing this we turned on the TV, and of course being Saturday night, there was nothing on. I turned the hotel TV to TV-on-Demand and noticed that the Jericho premier was available for $5.99. We of course purchased it and watched it while thinking up questions. I was also surprised to realize it was the ONLY CBS show in the on-demand category.
We got up early on Sunday, to get down to the convention center to get in line early for hall A. I wanted to get front row seats for us and the two volunteers who had agreed to help pass out flyers. We met Shaun o’Mac and agreed to save a seat for him too. I sat in the front row and spread the stuff out over the five seats.
Shaun o’Mac delivered the big stack of CBS flyers and took some with him. Sean went to find the convention staff and iron out the details about handing out the flyers. I waited for the two volunteers who were showing up later that morning.
Before the movie trailers, I answered questions from the fans behind me and was pleasantly surprised to see the hall was very full. As the trailers ended, I caught up with Robert and Stephen (our two volunteers) and directed them to the front row.
Then the hall began to empty, and I thought we would end up with a very small crowd. (It turned out that the Terminator cast had just begun to sign autographs and the hall emptied as people got in line). As episode three began Sean came back, and took Robert, Stephen and a few convention volunteers and got the CBS flyer and the JKI flyer passed out. All of the handouts went flying across the rows and disappeared into the hands of the eager fans.
As the episode played, the people who had gotten autographs came back into the hall and by the time the Jericho cast came out there was about 1000 people in the audience.

Fortunately, the fans had a lot of questions, so JKI only asked one. Robert asked about the TiVo Most Recorded Show List and how the cast/crew felt about Jericho’s high ranking on that list.
I think it was a great turnout for Jericho, and there were a lot of appreciative fans in the audience.
I'd like to thank Robert and Stephen for volunteering to hand out flyers.
