In a cast of mainly rough-and-tumble men like Skeet Ulrich and Esai Morales, a flower has bloomed this season on Jericho: actress Emily Rose. As Trish Merrick, a fresh-faced employee of Halliburton-like contractor Jennings and Rall, Rose brings a little sparkle to postapocalyptic America. But Jericho isn't the only TV town the Seattle-raised Rose has enlivened.
Just in the last year, she also provided some much needed energy to the fictional sleepy surfing hamlet of Imperial Beach on HBO's mystical and impenetrable John from Cincinnati, playing a filmaker who tried to seduce Bruce Greenwood's Mitch. More recently, Rose has been recurring on ABC's Brothers & Sisters as the complex Lena Branigan, the Walkers' winery worker and friend of Rebecca who first had an affair with Tommy while Julia was away, and then followed that up by dating his brother Justin.
As Trish, Rose is much less of a good-time girl on Jericho. And in tonight's episode, we learn her character just may be the only J&R employee with a conscience.
