The world will be different when TV's favorite nuclear holocaust survivors return for a seven-episode run. Jericho town father Johnston Green (Gerald McRaney) is dead. Prodigal son Jake (Skeet Ulrich) is back together with childhood sweetheart Emily (Ashley Scott). Oh, and there's a new federal government operating out of Cheyenne, Wyoming. It even has its own redesigned flag with a lot fewer stars than Old Glory.
How did you feel about the fanatical response of viewers who pressured CBS to bring back the series? I think it's great for people to show they care. We've been in sort of an apathetic society. It's proven to people you can make a difference.
One of the concessions necessary to come back for another season was fewer shooting days per episode. Will it be tougher to give the fans the kind of show they expect? It will be harder. But I like being the underdog. We were the show that was not going to suceed. We beat that. We were on against the two biggest reality shows of the year.
What should we expect this season on Jericho? Much, much more action. A normal season runs 22 episodes, but we're only doing seven, so we compressed the action to get more bang for the buck. This weird alternative government thing is happening, and Esai Morales plays an Army major who comes in to take control, and he and I end up working together to bring order. But there's no order in a place like Jericho.
