UHD Ad update
Just a quick update. The UHD TV commercial is back on. Rubberpoultry was able to send the commercial digitally to USA studios yesterday. They made a new HD tape and it was sent out this morning FedEx from Manhattan to UHD NJ where they broadcast from. Hopefully I will have new flight schedule for an early next week start.
Youtube viewers are now over 450,000 when we started on November 8 they were below 1,000
UHD Board up to 12,600 posts and climbing. Need to get the word out over the weekend and then see what Monday's ratings report brings us. We need an increase no matter how small to build on.

Community Bulletin Board Posting

Dawn, and I have been revisiting the places we went in early November and I have added to our post to include the CW information. She had some good response from people at tvguide.com http://tvguide.com/   who thanked her for letting them know Jericho was back on.

We could use your help so anyone who can help feel free to contact your local cable company or local newspaper and post to the TV or community blog.
Message to post:
Just wanted all of you to know that CBS has put Jericho on YouTube. It's the first CBS series to be released this way.
Jericho is an alternate future story of what happens when America is attacked and the government crumbles. The people of the small town of Jericho must deal with the unthinkable and find a way to survive. Jericho shows how people rise to the challenges around them, and in today's world their story is inspiring. Come check out this great series that was too good for commercial television, but is watched by millions worldwide via the internet.
You are also invited to come join the Jericho community at UniversalHD (UHD) which is currently airing Jericho :
On November 20, 2008 CBS Paramount and the CW Network announced that starting on Sunday night, November 30, 2008 at 7:00pm EST, that Jericho would start running all 29 of the Season 1 and Season 2 episodes in order from the pilot to the Season 2 finale Patriots and Tyrants.
Please let everyone know that Jericho is now showing on the CW and for those who have UHD (NBC's HD cable channel) you can watch Jericho during the week at 10:00am and on Saturday Nights at 9:00pm EST.

From Redsox:

Operation Phoenix Update

Happy Friday Rangers. 2 Days left until episode 2 Fallout is shown at 7:00pm on the CW.
As I have said since early November this last fight is about the numbers. We have 29 shots (29 episodes) to get the Nielsen numbers up.
I had set several goals last week:
*Youtube views at 400,000 by January 31, 2009 Accomplished - we are at 430,000 and climbing as of today.
*UHD Board-14,000 posts by January 31, 2009 - we are at 12,650 as of today
*Nielsen numbers 2 million by December 29, 2008 - last week we had 1.25 million which was an 80% improvement over the show it replaced.
We need to see the numbers improve to make a statement and get executives to take notice. It is imperative that everyone complete the feed back forms every Sunday night and get their letters out to Nancy Tellem at CBS and Bonnie Hammer on Monday morning.
We are going to get the numbers up and we going to be heard by the executives. We need every ranger to add their respective talents for the push for viewers.

Three Misconceptions About Kansas from Pop-Culture
Reported by Old Man Oliver
Friday, January 02, 2009

Article by Big Ross.

Source: CC2K.

Article found by NorsU.

For being a fly-over state, my home state of Kansas seems to show up in pop-culture more than I would expect.  Whether in television shows or in movies it seems Kansas serves as a kind of symbol for the Apple Pie Americana that's supposed to tug at our patriotic heartstrings.  Yet whenever Kansas appears on the TV or at the cineplex, I can tell you that, having been born and raised in the Sunflower State, rarely does anyone take the time to actually ensure that Kansas as presented onscreen bears any resemblance to the real thing.  Not that I can blame them, because really, it's called a fly-over state for a reason, that reason being once you venture in you might never escape.  But for what it's worth, here are three misconceptions about Kansas from pop-culture.

It's rare for a TV show to end on its own terms - or, at least, it's rare for a show to wrap up its storylines before being taken off the air. So when a show actually does get to produce a series finale, the writers and producers go all out, killing off characters, marrying others and, really, just cranking everything up to 11. Take a look at some of the great shows - and decidedly not-great shows - who said their goodbyes in 2008.

It's pretty ridiculous that DVR viewing isn't really taken into account when crunching the numbers to determine ratings. Nielsen is finally sitting up and taking notice! For the first time their year-end report about which shows are most popular includes TiVo/DVR users. Number one (and two, for that matter!) is "American Idol." Not a huge shocker. But get past that, and the results are interesting.

A Set Top Box Set-Up
Reported by Ratkeeper

Posted by Mitch Oscar.

Source: TV Board, Media Post Blog.

At the last MPG Collaborative Alliance (Dec. 3) EVAD Consulting's Frank Foster and Current TV's Theresa Pepe Falcone's succinct presentations focused on issues shaping audience measurement as the media community transitions to digital broadcasting. In particular, how television program viewing of the members of Nielsen Media Research's audience measurement panel, upwards of 12,000 TV households, translated into projectable program ratings. For this week's MediaPost TV Board blog I solicited written thoughts on panel vs. set top box viewing data from researchers in attendance at the last Collaborative Alliance as well as those whose opinions I respect but who could not attend in person. My goal is to proffer for public consumption an agnostic way to keep the topic of set top box data collection and panels projectables visible in the press and provide segues to hopefully generate dialogue and momentum on this crucial media topic. Thoughts, comments, noise, welcome.

As our friend Redsox continues to make his business case for Jericho, we can all be happy to know there’s plenty of places where we can once again re-live the kinship we felt with the Green family and the citizens of our favorite post-nuke town.

Kristin and I have a new bane to our existence: Jericho.

To put it mildly, we stumbled upon this show on Netflix the other day and now cannot stop watching it. To meet the Internet's quota for mandatory hyperbole I'd say that it's one of the best television series I've ever seen and I cannot stop thinking about it. Yes, I even dream about it now.

I watching an episode of Threshold on Universal HD in December when an ad for the late, lamented short-lived series Jericho popped up. I thought, at first, that it was a promo for a rerun of the show on UHD. Not so. Turns out it’s part of a fan-funded and fan-produced crusade to revive the show. Its online HQ, SaveJerichoAgain.com, says that the ad also aired earlier in 2008, in June and September, in Los Angeles.

Three Misconceptions About Kansas from Pop-Culture

'Jericho' tops list of Top 5 DVD releases

Making the complete series set of "Jericho" my first choice should not surprise anyone. The program's portrayal of how realistic characters from a small town would respond to a somewhat realistic wide-spread nuclear attack presents so many topics for discussion that watching the episodes repeatedly has value; further, the ongoing nature of the story makes watching several episodes at one time very worthwhile.

From Carol Barbee, the Executive Producer of Jericho

Thank all the fans for their support. I hope they are enjoying the CW run of Jericho and assure them we're still working on a continued life of the series.

A year on television is a lot like a year in real life, only more so: Shinier and prettier and with expertly written wisecracks, two-fisted crime fighting, miraculous doctoring, wily lawyering and nights of heedless passion that hardly ever lead to mornings of regret.
